ADRIANA SAAVEDRA

Adriana Saavedra was born in Barcelona in 1990.

Her first canvasses were the shifting sands of the beach in her hometown. Drawing on the immediacy of image, she took up photography as her medium of expression, later leaving it to solely paint.

Involved in Pop Art, Saavedra has incorporated into her work the influences of American writers and artists such as Susan Sontag, Patti Smith and Andy Warhol, and the research studies in multiculturalism and gender studies. Drawing from her training as a photographer and a painter and influenced by the explosive colors of Pop Art, her work may be best described as bold swaths of primary colors on large canvasses.

She studied photography at Escuela Superior de Imagen y Diseņo de Barcelona (IDEP) (2010-2011)
