MARIE LOUISE WRIGHTSON

Marie Louise Wrightson was born in 1972 in England in Lincolnshire, but have lived in Scotland now for well over 20 years. Since graduating from Duncan of Jordanstone in 2000 with a BA(HONS) and a Master’s in Fine Art, Marie has established herself as one of Scotland’s leading fine artists and her works are widely collected and exhibited in a number of the UK's leading galleries.

Subjects range from an endless fascination with the Alice in Wonderland books, to a love for seaside treats and the culture of High Tea.

Marie's paintings tend to be instantly recognizable by the strong and highly detailed forms of the figures and objects, drawn against plain dark backgrounds.

Like many people, she has been influenced and inspired by fairy tales, cartoons, films and children’s books, especially the Alice in Wonderland stories and the cautionary messages and fabulous worlds of little Alice, the Mad Hatter and The Queen of Hearts have remained a source of wonder for Marie.
