One of the UK’s most iconic actresses, Joanna Lumley has been confirmed to present the headline act at the Henley Festival on 13th July 2013. Tickets are now on sale for the music and arts festival, which takes place over 5 consecutive evenings in mid-July. Shaken and Stirred will be an evening of entertainment based around the music of James Bond by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Diamonds are Forever, Goldfinger, Live and Let Die and Skyfall are just a few of the performances that are expected to take 5,000 guests through a historic journey of iconic tunes, exciting stunts and an exclusive dance performance by Kristina Rihanoff and Robin Windsor of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing along with principle stars from the West End. Joanna Lumley said, “The very words ‘James Bond’ bring a rush of excitement to my heart: even though it was forty five years ago, even though I really only had two lines in the film ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’ I am as proud of being a Bond Girl as of anything else in my career. I can’t wait for this spectacular Bond Night on the river; as the evening progresses I shall of course be auditioning, fairly subtly, for a future role in another of these sensational films: and it need only be two lines…” Other headline names include The Beach Boys, Jamie Cullum, Madness and Paloma Faith. Comedy genius Barry Cryer will be performing on Wednesday 10th July and Alexander Armstrong on Thursday 11th July, plus the remarkable theatrics of Tubular Bells For Two on Friday 12th July. On Saturday 13th July, experience the incredible vocal talent of The Boxettes, while Rich Hall’s Hoedown will provide a mix of stand-up and comic songs on Sunday 14th July. Finishing each evening will be a firework display set to the rhythmic sounds of the Pandemonium drummers, the troop played an integral part in the London 2012 Olympic Games opening ceremony and are set to put on a thrilling and emotional show. For late night revellers, DJ Ben Zaven Crane will be providing the soundtrack to the evening in the Indigo tent ensuring each night of the Henley Festival ends with a touch of class. All net profits go to the Henley Festival charitable projects, and under the banner of ‘Arts Inspiring Lives’ it promotes year round community initiatives, providing experiences via the arts to groups that may not otherwise have access. |
