Gemma Billington
'Beyond The Beyond'
29 February - 2 April 2016

"You use a glass mirror to see your face; you use works of art to see your soul". This quote from George Bernard Shaw is a touchstone for the artist Gemma Billington. Working between between England and her mountainside studio in Ireland, Gemma's work is inspired by the sea and mountainscapes of her home country, Kerry. Gemma is unconventional in her methods, using only natural materials to mark the canvas. She paint with her hands and with rags of cashmere. She doesn't like the marks that brushes make - you don't see brush marks in nature.

Roger Aslin
'Urban Narratives'
29 February - 2 April 2016

In parallel to a previous career in the music industry, working with a major international record company, Roger Aslin has also consistently produced visual work, which has become his main creative focus in recent years. Having created a significant body of work, Roger has enjoyed success via a number of open exhibitions. The recurrent subject of his works is a figure within an urban environment; this is influenced by Aslin’s personal interest in film and television. Paintings are often developed from his observations of city life caught on camera.

The exhibition is held alongside the Hay Hill Gallery’s sculpture collection, featuring works by contemporary and modern sculptors.
