MAREK MARIA DUTKA

Born in a train in 1978 in former Czechoslovakia. Marek now lives and works in London. He graduated in 2004 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, and during his studies spent three semesters at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague (The Netherlands). Dutka’s Citadel series  is focused around geometric forms. Characterised by the unusual addition of miniature figural patterns of fish, Dutka adds a lively dimension to strong graphics which might otherwise appear static.

Marek Dutka's startlingly original works have been exhibited in both national and international venues, including in London at the 2008 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, and more recently at Searcys Club Gallery at the top of The Gherkin. In 2012 his painting was among twenty finalists for the VUB Foundation Award for Painting for Young Artists exhibited at the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic. His paintings are in numerous private collections, including the private collection of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
